LOCATION
Kingston offers the ideal study location, only 25 minutes from central London. Kingston Upon Thames is a leafy, self-contained area on the River Thames in south west London that has been consistently rated as the safest London Borough. It is surrounded by vast Royal parks, the famous Hampton Court Palace (home to Henry VIII) and many 16th Century buildings.
Kingston has everything to keep you entertained from trendy bars, traditional pubs, specialist restaurants, a 14-screen cinema, 16-lane bowling alley and a fantastic array of shops including a large modern shopping centre featuring the UK’s top retailers.
For those who like to explore, Kingston has easy access to the beautiful Surrey countryside, and is only half an hour by train from the hustle and bustle of Central London and its world famous attractions.
With easy access to both Heathrow and Gatwick (London’s international airports), getting home is never a problem. London is also serviced by many budget-priced airlines making it an ideal base for visiting the rest of the UK, Ireland and Europe. You can also take the Eurostar train and reach Paris or Brussels in only a few hours.
ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS
Kingston University has roots going back 100 years. Academic staff are divided into seven faculties, and students benefit from top-quality teaching. In 2008, The Sunday Times placed Kingston University 32nd out of 120 U.K. universities for ‘teaching excellence’ – on a level with older universities including St Andrews, Durham, Bristol and Edinburgh.
Many courses at Kingston University are vocational. This means they are specifically designed to prepare you for your chosen career, and offer you the chance to gain valuable work experience in industry or commerce. All degrees teach students work-related careers, such as career management, IT and communication, numeracy and teamwork.
During your time at Kingston, the Careers Service is always available, offering plenty of help and advice, access to its library of resource material, and the chance to attend employer recruitment seminars. Central London is just 25 minutes away by train so you are within easy reach of a wide range of employers.
Modern Resources and Facilities
Kingston University recently invested over £30 million on new teaching facilities and are planning to spend in total, £80 million over a 10-year period. Kingston the latest e-learning technology, 2000 computers, free internet, Wi-Fi hotspots and excellent library resources. Many laboratories, design studios and workshops are fitted with the latest technical equipment.

Kingston's main libraries are open 24hrs a day during academic term times and offer vast amounts of study aids, including over: 2,000 networked computers, 500,000 books, 15,000 electronically delivered journals plus 3,000 in print format.
